  Statement:

As a multimedia designer (primarily web design requiring the mastery of computer code), I find the technology of painting as fascinating and deep as any HTML design code.  Painting and drawing informs and improves my multimedia skills, from web design, to photography to moviemaking, in every imaginable way.  Painting makes me see better, clearer with more detail; my style is atmospheric naturalism, the search for light and shadow using techniques passed down through generations of artists.  I have been fortunate to study with many painters from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, all exuding an aura of confidence and accomplishment, which I am attempting to emulate.  Mixing old world style painting with modern technology has been particularly exciting and gratifying.

When I returned to art school, my dream was to become a multimedia mogul, leading a team of creative types, developing identities for a variety of clients across a wide platform of media outlets.  My background in the “knowledge” business combined with fine arts training in emerging technologies seemed a sure thing.  Much of this dream has come true, except that I work alone, my computers and cameras are my team and my studio is in my home.  I now consider myself a computer artist, thrilled when a client's Google ranking surges from my coding work or a custom Flash page gets kudos; I enjoy helping others visualize their public image.  I minored in drawing in college and have pursued painting since graduating, winning awards and making sales. My blog DoNArTNeWs (www.brewermultimedia.com) reviews the Philadelphia art scene with 40,000 page views per month.
